verdammt.
It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.
Grauenhaft!

wirklich scheisse. weiss jemand, was da genau passiert ist?

sehr tragisch..
I was there in the mountains with other skiers and judges watching the last competition day at La Grande Balme. Additionally there was a big screen in town airing the event life. The skiers were shooted from helicopters.
The day before I observed the mountain from lifts. It looked really scary mainly because of poor snow conditions and large rock formations cascading one after another. There was more "no fall areas" than safe places. I also watched and ski the qualifications runs in Le Chardonnet and first competition day at La Petite Balme which where difficult but relatively safe.
On Le Grande Balme women took safer routes in couloirs while men adventured on more difficult runs. Despite the safe approach of the women one of them fell and stopped rolling over just above a huge cliff. It was pretty obvious that if any of the skiers had made a mistake it would have ended tragically. And this is what happened.
I love this sport, I take risks and I understand people taking risks but I think the rules of the competitions should be revised. When money starts to be involved, the free spirit of this sport is being threaten and the limits are being pushed not at a personal level but a the costs of others.
My heart is with Neal's family and friends who watched him falling on a big screen in the center of Tignes with hundreds other freeride funs.
sehr traurig!
