Presenting the unique expressions of female freeskiing today, SHADES OF WINTER features deep powder and pillows in Japan, skiing all-time conditions in the Alps, big mountain lines in Haines, AK, and the highest level of female freestyle skiing seen yet from the Nine Queens event in Austria.

Kann man ja alles gut finden wenn man will, aber ich hab davon schon ziemlich die Nase voll. Was ich ihnen (abgesehen von den Dingen die ich vorher schon als überragend bezeichnet habe) zugute halten muss ist, dass sie unter die Aufnahmen von dem Heli KEIN Rotorblättergeräusch gelegt haben.
Sorry, ich glaub ich bin grad im Hassmodus...

So falsch liegste damit meiner Meinung nach gar nicht. Der Trailer ist sick keine Frage und die Aufnahmen sind wie immer ein bisschen besser als im letzten Jahr und auf einem extrem hohen Niveau. Das allein macht aber keinen guten Film und vor allem ist es exakt das gleiche (abgesehen vom technischem Niveau, das aber eben auch in den letzten beiden Jahren sehr hoch war), wie quasi alle Filme der großen Produktionsfirmen in den letzten 2-3 Jahren. Ich persönlich freu mich auch nicht soo unglaub auf Field, MSP, TGR, weil es einfach langweilig geworden ist.
Was mich bei Field vor allem stört, sind die immer gleichen Segmente aus Folgefonna oder wo auch immer das ist mit den Fjord im Hintergrund. Sieht geil aus, wenn man es das erste Mal sieht aber man muss sich schon mal was neues einfallen lassen, außer nen noch größeren Kicker hinzustellen.

Jap. Würde mich auf jeden Fall über mehr Experimente freuen. Nur wenn die große Masse sich nicht mehr gegenseitig kopiert, wie stechen dann die kleinen geilen Sachen raus? Verrückt ist das doch...
Jo, ich hatte ja auch gesagt, dass das Ding wirklich überragend produziert ist. Würde mir den auch anschauen, so ist es ja nicht. Das mit den Heligeräuschen hast du aber missverstanden glaube ich.

Elevation
Before resorts, lift tickets and overpriced pizza, there was adventure in skiing. Before the mountains were harnessed with lifts, bound with ropes and scarred with designated runs, they were wild. Actions with consequences were chosen and the individual was held responsible. No liability forms or waivers. The lifts came and made the mountains small, tame and in time, boring. We were sold that THIS is skiing. And we obeyed. A revolution is taking place. With this resurgence into the backcountry we look for real adventure beyond the tightly wound, firmly stretched orange and black ropes that "protect" us from knowing freedom. The backcountry is the imagination unleashed and you get out what you put in. There are real boundaries and limitations though; avalanches, exposure to the elements, conditions and fatigue all challenge one to grow in knowledge, patience and fitness. The joy comes in discovering these limitations, moving through fear and exploring beyond. Putting in the perspiration and inspiration leads to ELEVATION.

-Returning to health, Noah Howell reveals the depths of his season.
-Jake Sakson and Paul Kimbrough clean house in their backyard range, the Tetons of Wyoming.
-Will Cardamone and Charlie Cannon hole up for turns in a hut deep in Oregon's Wallowa Mountains.
-Bob Athey offers up crusty bits of wisdom gathered from decades of being bitter in the backcountry.
-Cindi-Lou and Zach Grant build the cabin of their dreams in the heart of the Wasatch Mtns.
-The Provo brothers, Neil and Ian, reign supreme in the Tordrillo Mountains proving once again that Alaska is the undisputed king of big lines and deep powder. This movie is part ski porn, part documentary and a full on propaganda piece promoting the joys and wonder of exploring on skis and split-board. What we lack in flashy graphics, hi-tech camera gear and helicopter budgets, we make up for with try-hard. Capturing wild mountains and those willing to put in the time, education, respect and energy that they demand is our pleasure. Enjoy!
